As the Stellar Gospel Music Awards celebrated its 25th year, Verity Gospel Music Group celebrated winning 12 Stellar Awards, including Artist of the Year (Hezekiah Walker); CD of the Year (Souled Out/Hezekiah Walker) and Producer of the Year (Donald Lawrence).
Hezekiah Walker was the evening’s big winner, taking home statues for Choir of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year and Contemporary Choir of the Year, in addition to Artist of the Year and CD of the Year.
The Stellar Awards featured outstanding performances by Verity Gospel Music Group’s Kirk Franklin; a one-of-a-kind collaboration with Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Byron Cage; Crystal Aikin and Hezekiah Walker & LFC who opened the show with a rousing performance that also featured Ricky Dillard and New G. DeWayne Woods and J Moss were among the evening’s presenters.
The 25th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards will air in syndication beginning January 24, with national airings on Gospel Music Channel (February 28) and WGN (February 24).
